Scripture Stories

Today in Relief Society, our teacher didn't show up. So the president had a back up lesson. It was our favorite scripture stories, and what treasures and thoughts we get from them. A lot of the girls gave a lot of good stories. Two of them really stood out to me.

The first one was from 1 Nephi 19:7,9. It says:

Vs. 7: "For the things which some men esteem to be of great worth, both to the body and the soul, others set at naught and trample under their feet...."

vs. 9: "And the world because of their iniquity, shall judge him to be a thing of naught; wherefore they scourge him, and he suffereth it; and they smite him, and he suffereth it. Yea, they spit upon him, and he suffereth it, because of his loving kindness and his long suffereing towards the children of men."

The girl that shared this applied it to all women in general. By worldly opinion, women are supposed to be beautiful, gorgeous, and certain body shape and size, have certain looks about them. And us women are "trampled" if we dont' meet that criteria, and we suffer. The Lord loves all women, no matter what we look like, who we are, what our likes and dislikes are, etc. He holds a special place in his heart for women. One of the wives of the bishopric pointed this out to us all during this discussion about this scripture. She said something to this effect, "Who was entrusted to carry the son of God in her womb? A woman. Who was there when Christ was crucified? Women. Who was there when Christ was resurrected? A woman." If you think about it, women have been there for Christ through all of his trials. Not that his apostles weren't there. We don't know why they weren't there. But it was always a woman or many women there. Christ holds a special place in his heart for women, so therefore, we know we are special. And we should be treated as such. We do have worth. No matter what the world says. We are special.

President Gordon B. Hinckley said this about women:

"Of all the creations of the Almighty, there is none more beautiful, none more inspiring than a lovely daughter of God who walks in virtue..., who honors and respects her body as a thing sacred and divine, who cultivates her mind..., who nurtures her spirit with everlasting truth."

The second story was from Alma 48:11-13,17. It says:

Vs 11: "And Moroni was a strong and mighty man; he was a man of a perfect understanding; yea, a man that did not delight in bloodshed; a man whose soul did joy in the liberty and the freedom of his country, and his brethren from bondage and slavery;

Vs. 12: "Yea, a man whose heart did swell with thanksgiving to his God, for the many privileges and blessings which he bestowed upon his people; a man who did labor exceedingly for the welfare and safety of his people.

Vs. 13: "Yea, he was a man who was firm in the faith of Christ, and he had sworn an oath to defend his people, his rights, and his country, and his religion, even to the loss of his blood.

Vs. 17: " Yea, verily, verily I say unto you, if all men had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Moroni, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever; yea, the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men."

All I have to say about this story, is that I WANT A MAN LIKE MORONI. I can only hope that one day I will be able to say that I married a man that had such faith, courage, and gratitude in him. I also would like to apply this scripture to any member of the church. We all should have attitudes and attributes like Moroni. This is a model member of what we should be doing with our faith and our lives. I don't even know what else to say... it's pretty self explanatory.

Ride 'em, Cowboy!

Parker, Lindsey, Austin and I went to the Spanish Fork Fiesta Day's Rodeo last night! I had so much stinkin' fun! And... it was my first rodeo haha! I loved all the events! Bareback and Bullriding were my favorites, but the Mutton Busting, Steer Racing, Tie Down Roping, and Barrell Racing were awesome as well! There was also a guy there named Blake from Texas that had to Oxen with him, Apache and Geronimo, and they did this little skit thingy. This cowboy had been training these two oxes for 10 years! It was sweet!

We are all planning on going back next year! And we wanna hit the Day's of 47 Rodeo, and the Herriman Rodeo as well. It was so much fun! This might just be a new tradition!

SORRY!

Hey everybody! I'm so sorry that I haven't been on for sooo long! I've been busy with school and work... it's been crazy! But I finally have a minute to sit down and let you all in on the scoop.

In May, my family went down to Moab for a trip before I started school. It was soo much fun! I had never been down there until then, and now I want to keep going back! We went to the secret spire, Dellen Baugh Tunnel, Dead Horse Point, we hiked up to Delicate Arch, and we went rock crawling. It was one of the funnest weekends I've ever had...

My 19th birthday was on June 18th. I had a BBQ with my family, Kenzie, Chris, Erika, Zac and my boyfriend, Austin. The pictures will explain all... hehe!

That's the jist of all that's happened. We are going to Lagoon tomorrow... so more pictures and everything to come! Oh one more thing... I chopped my hair! You'll see pictures tomorrow!

Instead of "Dude, Where's My Car"...

....What happened to your car!?Erika and I were driving around the other day and we saw this car while we were at a stop light. We were laughing so hard that I had to get a pic to put up here... Makes you wonder how that happened. That's not a "ding" you see everyday!

10 Things You Probably Didn't Know

My sister did this on her blog. And it sounded kind of fun. So I thought I would give it a try. Here it goes.

#1) I love sitting in the warm bath tub and reading a good book at the same time. Something about that is... well relaxing. I do that all the time.

#2) I absolutely hate doing the dishes! I hate the smell of the grime and the food that isn't rinsed off the dishes all the way. I hate the smell of the grease on pans after you make, like eggs, or bacon. I hate the look of the food when it's been soaked in water and dish soap after a while. I hate the feel when you have to rinse it off, or when you have to dunk your hand into a grimey, greasy pot to get silverware that is dumped in there. I gag! The whole time that I am doing the dishes, I am gagging! My mom loves watching me do the dishes. She laughs at me the whole time. I'll do the dishes, but I hate doing them.

#3) I tell people that I don't ever care what anyone thinks about me. And in a lot of situations, I really don't care. I don't care that people think I'm crazy, loud, wild, love to have fun. But I do care in other situations. I've never been that popular of a girl. I've always wanted to just fit in with people. I worry about what I look like a lot of the time, and if I'm good looking for some people... I've always worried if I'm good enough for some people or not.

#4) For those that don't know, I am LDS. In my sophomore year of high school, I was acutally beginning to doubt the church because of some things that had happened to me. I wondered why the Lord made these things happen to me and I wondered if He cared about me. I wondered if the church was true. If the scriptures were true. But with the help of mainly my parents, I began to see the truth and the light again. I learned why the trials that happened to me had happened to me and to this day I am continuing to learn and grow from them. I had always heard stories of members of the church that had doubted. But I never actually thought it would happen to me. But it did. And I'm glad it did. I am a better member and a better person because of it. I have a super strong testimony and if that hadn't happened to me, my testimony probably wouldn't be as strong as it is now.

#5) I ever wonder if I'll end up dying old and alone. And instead of having 20 cats, I will have 20 dogs. Ha ha!

#6) Whenever I get a new cd, or hear a song on the radio that I like, I have to read the lyrics while listening to that song. A lot of the time, I'll pull the cover out of the cd case, and just read the lyrics along with the cd. Other times I'll look up the song and the words on the internet, and play it while looking at the words. I always want to have a connection with a lot of the songs, and I always end up having a connection with a lot of the songs that I listen to.

#7) I hate my own handwriting. Everyone says that it's really cute and that they wished that their handwriting looked like mine, but I hate my handwriting. I think it's really sloppy. Judge for yourself...

#8) I am a true blue, hard core cowgirl at heart. I don't always show it, but I really am. I have boots and I love my boots. I love country music! I love watching rodeos on tv, and I love watching PBR on tv when it's in season. And the few times that I have ridden a horse, I have absolutely loved it! AND! I've always wanted to be in a rodeo! I've always wanted to ride bareback or do barrell racing. It'll never happen but I can dream right?

#9) I am addicted. To shoes. And purses. And pepsi! It's so bad. I have about 15 purses. And I have about 20 pairs of shoes. And pepsi... that's about all I drink. Besides the few glasses of water and milk every day.

#10) I love sports! I love football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball... that's not the thing you didn't know. I've always wanted to be a gymnist. Sometimes I've wished that I would have gotten into gymnastics. I wanna be flexible. I wanna be able to do all those cool rolls, twists, flips, flying, and whatever else they do. Plus, it just looks like fun! And, I would be in really good shape if I did that! Ha ha!

Chris Crane turns 22!

One of my friend's, Chris, birthday was on Wednesday, the 15th. Kenz and I decided we wanted to do something special for him, because he said no one really remembered his birthday. We decided to bake him a cake, heart attack his car, and then take him to dinner. On the night before, we made him a sweet awesome Batman cake (Batman's his favorite super hero) and then we threw foil and paper shreds, balloons, cut out hearts and random candy in his car. Then the night of his birthday we kidnapped him and took him to dinner.. which ended up being Del Taco because that's where he chose. It was so much fun!!!! ... here's pictures ...

No More Cali

Some of my friends from work invited me to go to California with them the second weekend of May. I went into work once I got the ok from my parents, and I requested it off.

It got rejected.

Ok... tell me this... how does someone like me... who's stayed after work sometimes more then an hour, only missed one day ever in the 10 months, been to work on time everyday and volunteer to do more jobs around the club all the time... gets four days from work rejected? When people who are always late, never stay after, never help anywhere else in the club always get everytime they want a vaca approved?

I'm irritated.

Everytime I try to go and have fun, I can't. It's always thrown in the trash or flushed down the toilet. So... no more Cali.

Here's my trip...
Fun huh?
