Elder Teddy Parker

So I've heard of the people who buy Build-A-Bears and make them their missionaries. Lindsey and I decided to do that with Parker, and take him places that Parker would normally go and then take pictures and send them to Parker and put them in his scrapbook. So meet...

Elder Teddy Parker

Lindsey and I had so much fun making him. And yes... we were the only big girls in the store besides the people that worked there. The faces that some people were giving us were hilarious! We made bears to be us too... a Lindsey and Shelby Teddy. Kinda lame haha but it was fun and we're excited to do this for Parker.

Elder Teddy Parker with hair... it was just funny at the moment. What a horrid wig!

Yes I am a lameo... but I miss my brother haha. That's what only child syndrome does to you. Well me at least.

Sorry I haven't posted since before Christmas. Christmas was fun! It was different without Parker there, especially while watching "The Grinch" but it was fun. New Years was a blast as well. Lindsey and Deb and Claude couldn't come down because Lindsey had to work New Years Eve and morning, but Holly and her friend, Emily, came over and we ate and played games. It was fun! Then after Linds got off work that afternoon, we went to her house and to The Bead Fairy and bought beads to make those bead watch bands. (I have no pictures yet so please forgive me... I will post as soon as I get them up.) Then we just played all night. I slept over and then went back home on Sunday.
Lately, I have been feeling really lonely. I have no brother to tease me to my wits end, I have no boyfriend to tease me to my wits end either hehe :P (I love both of their teasing... hence the reason I miss it so much. Poppa Shawn? I need you to take over more bahaha!) My sister is far away... okay not really too far away but far enough away that I can't just drive over there and hang out with her and the nephews all the time. Lindsey is far away... Nash is off doing her soccer stuff most of the time so I hardly see her :( So yes, I have been super super lonely. I was listening to Backstreet Boys "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely" today on my way to work and almost started crying because now I really know the meaning of being lonely.
Sorry this is such a long post. I needed to catch up! Forgive me for not being good about updating Cody's blog as well (if you follow it at all)... I haven't heard from him in weeks so I really have nothing to post.
Until next time... :*

Frightmares 2010

Parker, Lindsey, and I went to Lagoon with our cousin Joel yesterday. It was so much fun! Joel couldn't come until 3 pm because of band practice, but we found lots of fun stuff to do until he got there. For example...

We've always wanted to take these pictures. But... we just never did. Good thing we remembered to take extra money yesterday to do them because they were fun. We got a really good deal on them too. The goofy picture is really goofy though. The lady gave us literally 10 seconds to decide what we were going to do. I'm not good with posing on the spot like that. Parker and Lindsey did really good! I tried to look like I was worried that Parker was gonna shoot Lindsey in the head. Didn't work haha! Now I figured out what I should have done. I figured out that I should have either been trying to grab the money that's in Parker's other hand since he wasn't looking... or putting my hand over my mouth... that would have made me look more worried. Oh well. What's done is done. It's a good picture anyway. Lindsey and I also though it was weird that they didn't give us shoes to wear. It looks funny when saloon girls don't wear their shoes hehe! Oh well... it was still a blast.
We waited to do most of the bigger rides until Joel got there. In the meantime we did like the Tilt-A-Whirl, Samurai, and Merry-Go-Round, just because those were good rides to do where you didn't need an even group. Then when Joel got there, we did Collassus (I'm not so sure that's how you spell it but oh well) and Wicked, etc. Then we did the haunted houses when it got dark.

This is the only picture that Joel would let me take of his face. What a punk :P

Now I need a few minutes to vent. Sorry. Sacrament meeting in church today went pretty good. Until Bishop stood up. Here's a pre-cursor to this story. Apparently my ward had a service project sleepover from Friday until Saturday. I didn't go because I thought it was a terribly inappropriate activity, well the sleepover part, plus we had already planned Lagoon for that Saturday. Anyways, I guess only half of the ward that told Bishop they were planning on being there showed up, which is fine. College life gets crazy. Things come up for classes that are important, or maybe something happens in a family that can't be missed. Sometimes college students get super busy and just forget. It happens. But my Bishop can't see that, because during Sacrament meeting, he got up and told the ward that this activity wasn't for the service. The reason they had it was so that people could interact and get to know each other. Don't you think that it should be about both? But don't you think that it could be done WITHOUT giving the kids an opportunity to be inappropriate? (Not that it happened or that it would, but still you're giving them a good chance to let it happen.) Then he goes on to tell the ward that he can only trust about 40% of the ward and that he doesn't trust the other 60% and that he's very dissappointed. WHAT?! Say that again, Bishop? Seriously? As a man in your position... you SHOULD NEVER tell a group of young adults that you don't trust them just because they missed an activity. That's stupid! You shouldn't say it to anyone at all! That really really upset me. Not because I am a member of the ward and now believes that my bishop doesn't trust me (I didn't answer him back so he didn't know if I was coming or if I wasn't...) but because it's just an uncalled for and rude comment. I don't understand. I came hom WAY upset and told my Mom about it. She told me to consider the source... which I have. Yes he's weird most of the time and does weird stuff but he is a man called of God. He shouldn't be saying that, or planning those types of activities for a college ward.
Alright, I'm done venting now. Sorry. I just don't understand people. I know I am in this ward for a reason, same as my last ward. I'm in this ward to see how not to act in leadership positions, to learn how to treat people, and to help my testimony grow, which is really hard. I'll get in a good ward someday. I just have to be patient.

Lots of Updates!

First on updates...
Lindsey, Parker, Holly and I went to the Warped Tour at the fairgrounds! OH MY GOSH! Sooo much fun! But I'm stealing Lindsey's words on this one... I've had enough smokers, F-words and condoms to last me a life time now. haha! But it was a blast! The best show was by Hey Monday! And I found two new favorite bands... The Rocket Summer and The Cab. Loved it!

Hot Mike from Hey Monday (his name is really just Mike but I call him Hot Mike... haha!)

Hey Monday
(Alex, Jersey... who was barefoot the whole time, Cassadee Pope and Hot Mike)

The Rocket Summer

Update #2 -
Parker got his mission call on August 4th! Oh my goodness... you'll never guess where he's going....

AUSTRAILIA BRISBANE MISSION
:D
He reports to the Provo MTC on December 15, 2010. So he'll be gone before Christmas but at least he'll still be here for Thanksgiving and be back before Christmas in two years.
Calling Whitney and Chris with the proud Momma standing by :D

Update #3 -
2 Saturday's ago... Parker, Dad and I went off roading with my brother in law, Chris, his two brothers Mike and Nick, and Clint from Dad and Chris' work. It was so much fun! We went up American Fork Canyon on a trail called Mary Ellen Gulch. SOOO pretty! The Lord sure knew what he was doing when he made that place. Everything had a place. It looked like it had been landscaped. It was perfect! There was some old mining stuff up there that was sooo cool too!

Nick touching stuff in the old house up at the top of the mines in Mary Ellen Gulch. Ugh. What a brave kid haha!

Just one of the pretty moutainside pictures :D

Dad, Parker and Mike at a mine shaft opening.

I had a blast this past week! I love all my friends and family who keep me on top of things and continue to make me love life! Love ya'll!

Lindsey's Purse Party

Lindsey had a purse party on the 15th! (I realize this is a FEW days late but hey... at least I'm getting around to it.) :D Here are just some fun pictures that I took:

Nash looks like she's about to fall asleep...

Just ONE of the tables full of purses... there were many more on the floor, kitchen table and like one other table. They're so much fun to dig through!

HAHAHAHAHA! Oh Dad! Mom wondered if he ran out of feed... :D

Funny story! So Dalene and Nash drove Grandma's car with Grandma up to Lindsey's house for the party. Well, we past them on the freeway and Parker goes... "Oh! I wonder where they're going!" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Not even thinking that they're going to the purse party too! Oh man! I will never let him live that one down. :D
I'm thinking about selling purses with this lady that does this! She asked if I was interested and I just might be... it'll be a good flexible job to have while going to hygiene when I start that.

Lindsey and Curses

Lindsey, Parker, Holly and I went to Fox Field to watch the Stadium of Fire fireworks, and Holly brought the game Curses! It is my all time favorite game... if you haven't played it you really need to because it is hilarious! Anyways, Lindsey's curses this particular round were to start every word with the letter R like Scooby Doo, sneeze everytime she talked and whenever someone tried to touch her she had to cover her curse cards and say, "You're trying to steal my lucky charms!" Oh my gooness. Anyways this is the video of her with all of her curses and doing her challenge, which was to explain how to make a peanut butter samwich. Enjoy!

Quick Weekend Update

So, just in case you haven't noticed, my blog is no longer private. I'm not worried anymore with what I was a few months ago.
I kind of had a bad day today. Church wasn't all that great. I've been feeling really left out of the ward lately, especially in Relief Society. Even though the girls all know that my records are in that ward and that I just don't live in the apartments, they still look over me and don't bother talking to me, even when I make an effort to say hi to them.
I realize that this is something that I probably shouldn't be super worried about, but I am. I just want to be able to feel like a part of the ward and know that I'm not being ignored. Oh well. I'll get over it.
Something exciting did happen today though. I opened my email to email Cody and there was an email from someone that I didn't recognize. I open it up and it's from Cody's companion's girlfriend! haha how funny huh? She wants to talk and get to know me, since the boys have been telling both of us that we are all going to meet and hang out once Cody gets home. She seems like a super cute girl! I am excited to get to know her and become friends with her.
Well, yesterday was mine and Lindsey's birthday BBQ! It was so much fun! Deb, Claude, Lindsey and her friend Jenny came, along with Erika, Holly, Julie and Shawn and Kenz and Chris. It was so much fun! I was super nervous to have my parents and Cody's parents meet but it actually went really really good! They were all laughing and talking and both of my parent's said to me that his parents are really nice! YAY! I felt like peeing my pants the whole time hoping that they were getting along. Whew! Anyways, I'll get the few pictures up when I load them on my computer hehe!
Well, nothing else really going on. Just work, which I still love!
Sorry this is kind of a blah post but I'll have more exciting ones coming up this week I promise!
Loves to you all! :D

Moab 2010

We just got back from Moab on Sunday night. I had such a blast! We went with Deborah, Claude and Lindsey. SOOOO much fun!
We left Friday morning around 9 am-ish and got there around 12:30 or 1:00 pm. We got something to eat, set up camp and then we took a ride to Dead Horse Point and Secret Spire.
Do you know the story of Dead Horse Point? Well here it is... thanks to http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/.
"Dead Horse Point is a peninsula of rock atop sheer sandstone cliffs. The peninsula is connected to the mesa by a narrow strip of land called the neck. There are many stories about how this high promontory of land received its name.
According to one legend, around the turn of the century the point was used as a corral for wild mustangs roaming the mesa top. Cowboys rounded up these horses, herded them across the narrow neck of land and onto the point. The neck, which is only 30-yards-wide, was then fenced off with branches and brush. This created a natural corral surrounded by precipitous cliffs straight down on all sides, affording no escape. Cowboys then chose the horses they wanted and let the culls or broomtails go free. One time, for some unknown reason, horses were left corralled on the waterless point where they died of thirst within view of the Colorado River, 2,000 feet below."

This is just one of the views from Dead Horse Point. See how pretty?

Lindsey at Secret Spire.

On Saturday, we woke up, had breakfast and then we went and hiked up to Delicate Arch. It was soo much harder then last year! Last year it was only 70 degrees and overcast. This year it was 100 degrees and bright blue skies with no clouds. Even though I was drinking water I started to get heat exhaustion, but then after sitting in one of the shady places near the top for like 4 minutes and resting up at the top, I was fine. But I love Delicate Arch! I love that hike! It is my absolute favorite! Everyone but Mom hiked it, Mom was sick and so she didn't think she was going to be able to hike it this year. But she hiked it with us last year.

Now I don't have any pictures for the last two rides we took on Saturday and Sunday. After the hike on Saturday we rode to a place called Spring Canyon. You ride down this trail on the edge of the wall of some cliffs... if that makes sense... and you ride down in the bottom of the canyon. It's so pretty! My bum is so sore though because I rode behind Dad on Deb's four-wheeler (oh only Claude, Lindsey, Parker, Dad and I went on this ride due to lack of four-wheelers haha) and we totally forgot about a cushion! So I was sitting on the bars and it hurt my bum for the bumpy parts... haha! But it was so fun and so pretty! Then on Sunday we went to Dellan Baugh Tunnel. This is where the rock crawling came in! Deb rode behind Claude on his four-wheeler, Lindsey drove hers and I drove Deb's. Dad, Mom and Parker rode in the Bronco. Anyways, Lindsey and I rocked the slickrock in the four-wheelers! I admit I was a little nervous at first but after I did it once I was totally fine and I rocked it. It was so much fun! We want to take a fall trip now... I'ms o excited! :D

My next post will be pictures that "Miss Professional Picture Taker" Holly took of me! So cute! Loves ya'll!

Parker's Graduation

Parker graduated today! I am so excited and so proud of him! One milestone down, and many more to go. Here are some pictures of the fun night:

Parker and his diploma after he walked.

Parker, Chelsey and Jaelynn. Parker was ducking so he looks almost he same height as them, even though he's about 10 times taller!

Lindsey and Nash

Me and Parker :D

Me, Lindsey and Nash. Don't mind my face... I'm not good at multitasking!

Me and "Favorite"...
...aka my best bud Sean Ian King...
...or Sean "The" King haha!

Then after the graduation, Me, Parker, Mom, Dad, Lindsey, Deb and Claude all went to dinner :D We went to Pizza Pie Cafe! So yummy! It was a blast... especially with "Parkey" and the "Spicy Sunshine" hahahaha! Oh my! I love my family.
I'm so proud of Parker! And I'm also very proud of all of my friends that graduated today! I hope the best for them in all of their endeavors! Love you guys!
